This locomotive was built by Robert Stephenson & Co. in Newcastle, England. From there, it was disassembled and transported to the port of Rotterdam, then shipped via the Rhine to Cologne, and finally laboriously brought overland to Nuremberg. Upon reaching its destination, the locomotive was assembled in the workshops of Johann Wilhelm Spaeth's engineering factory. The wooden cars were manufactured directly on site. On December 7, 1835, it made its inaugural journey on the Ludwig Railway from Fürth to Nuremberg (6.04 km).
