Tram Line TAKSIM-TUNNEL
The construction of this line was decreed on August 20, 1869, and just ten days later, the contract for laying tram tracks in Istanbul was signed. On February 18, 1870, the Dersaadet Tramway Establishment was founded.
In 1908, the Tünel line was inaugurated, later becoming part of the tramway company, and the route was extended to Taksim Square. The original operating company endured numerous setbacks, including World War I, but was nationalized in 1939 and became part of the public transportation company IETT.
In the 1960s, tram operations in Istanbul were completely discontinued. However, since December 29, 1990, historical trams have been running on the Taksim-Tünel line under the name "Istanbul's Nostalgic Tramway." Today, modern trams have also become an integral part of Istanbul's cityscape.
Our collection of model trams from cities around the world includes this fascinating historical model, which is sure to delight fans of scale tram modeling.
