The Ulises was a salvage tug designed for high-seas operations. In the 1960s, maritime trade was exceptionally busy.

Merchant ships faced numerous dangers from storms and rough seas, making salvage tugs vitally important. These vessels ensured that damaged ships could be safely brought to the nearest harbor. At that time, metal was the predominant material used in shipbuilding. The strength of steel was utilized for constructing the hull, while wood was used for cladding the bridge and crew areas. This combination gave the ships a particularly beautiful appearance, extending beyond their primary role as simple utility vessels.
